Setia Badminton Academy

The Setia Badminton Academy was established in 1997 with a mandate to help develop new generations of world-class badminton players in Malaysia. The objective of the Academy is to equip grassroots players with excellent basic badminton skills while promoting and developing badminton as a healthy sport for all ages.

With 1985 World Champion Han Jian at the helm as Chief Coach, the Academy’s home base is in Subang Jaya, Selangor and it also has a training complex in Setia Alam, Shah Alam. There are approximately 300 players training under Han Jian, who is assisted by three other coaches from Indonesia and Malaysia.

The primary aim of the Academy is to train players between the ages of seven to 15 years old on basic badminton skills. The emphasis is on mastering skills which are necessary in order to become a good badminton player. Character-building is also an important component and trainees are instilled with core values such as self-discipline, perseverance and punctuality. Other services provided by the Academy are coaching clinics, individual or group training and other badminton skills courses.
