Malaysia’s leading property developer S P Setia Berhad and UTAR formed a strategic partnership on 5 June 2009 with the signing of a RM1.25 million sponsorship deal to establish an academic Chair in Environmental Engineering and Green Technology.
The total amount is to be allotted over the next five years to fund research and development in the field of environmental engineering and green technology under UTAR’s Faculty of Science, Engineering and Technology.
The signing ceremony was part of S P Setia’s Group celebrations in honouring World Environment Day 2009. With the theme of “Our Planet, Our Home - Let’s Take Care of It Together”, all the Group’s project development sites in the Klang Valley, Johor and Penang stopped work for the day.
Setia Eco Gardens voted World’s Best Master Plan
S P Setia has won another coveted award from the Paris-based International Real Estate Federation (FIABCI) body. Its eco-themed project in Johor – Setia Eco Gardens – was awarded the honour of Best Master Plan Development in the FIABCI Prix d’Excellence Award 2009.
Considered the most prestigious of global real estate accolades, the international recognition follows suit from Setia Eco Garden’s win for Best Master Plan at the FIABCI Malaysia Property Awards 2008 and the Best Developer - Office/Commercial Project Award (Built Category) in the inaugural Cityscape Asia Real Estate Award 2008 for its sales gallery.
Setia Eco Gardens is S P Setia’s second development to win the coveted award from FIABCI International. In 2007, Setia Eco Park in Shah Alam achieved the rare honour of Best Master Plan Development.
The win puts Setia Eco Gardens among other global real estate gems such as the Twin Waters on the Sunshine Coast in Australia, Trump World Tower in New York, Gardenville in Singapore and Tokyo Bayfront East in Japan.
President and Chief Executive Officer, Tan Sri Liew Kee Sin received the award in Beijing from FIABCI World President Lisa Kurrass witnessed by the Malaysian Ambassador to the People’s Republic of China Dato’ Syed Norulzaman.
